bees-1

Bees massed in a tree on First Avenue on Tuesday.

Ron Tarver sent the photos to the Bark, giving this explanation:

bees swarmed from a nearby hive. chris [Andersen] cut off the limbs that they were clinging, and then put them n the limb into a large box later to be put into hive box located somewhere within neighborhood in a back yard.

Baker oenophiles rejoice! Restaurateur Jesse Morreale announced Sunday that he plans to open his new wine bar, Sketch, on Friday, March 20.

“A true wine bar, Sketch will be reminiscent of a Mediterranean café in Italy, and the first space to open in the newly acquired 1st Avenue Hotel, located at the corner of Broadway and 1st Avenue, in the heart of the quickly growing Broadway entertainment district,” read a statement from Morreale’s company, M Inc.

Morreales and his team currently operate a number of Denver restaurants, including Tambien, Rockbar and Mezcal, which was lauded in last Sunday’s Denver Post as an early leader in the East Colfax renaissance.

Scooter store coming to Broadway

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Editor’s note: Ron Tarver is the former editor of the Baker Bark.

What used to be a used car lot, just north of Checkers across the street from the post office, and most recently a tent selling Persian rugs, is now going to house a multitude of inexpensive new scooters for sale.

It will take a couple of months to redesign and build out the existing building. Expected completion: spring, as early as March.

Truly hip.
