Alameda Station

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

New to the Baker neighborhood, Klipp Architecture has sketched some intial plans for the Alameda Station development:

Here’s what they say about the project:

The Alameda Station mixed-use transit-oriented development, for which planning and design are under way, is based on the foundation of strong real estate and urban design fundamentals, compact design, retail appropriate to the market, market-driven housing, supportive neighborhoods, a well-defined public space and walkable, mixed-use development. Plans for the eight-acre site call for 45,000 square feet of mixed retail, office and restaurant space; 300 to 450 apartment; a pedestrian bridge over the CML/RTD Light Rail; and ample parking to serve commercial and residential use.

From BHNA Zoning Committee Chair Steve Harley:

please come to this open house Wednesday, 3 December, to see how
this plan is evolving; it will cover the area within 1/2 mile of
the Alameda Light Rail Station, which includes most of
residential Baker south of Archer, as well as some of West Wash
Park, the Denver Design District and other major new development
sites

as noted below, current materials for this plan aren’t available
until 26 November, but there is background info including a map
of the plan area here:

Good Morning!

The Alameda Station Area Plan is an important document in
establishing a clear vision for the station area and adjoining
neighborhoods. Strategies will:

* Offer a rich mix of transportation, employment, shopping and
housing choices
* Promote land use and service arrangement in an efficient manner
* Capture the value and ensure the success of this significant
public investment in the rail system
* Design safe and enjoyable destinations and places for the
neighborhood
* Create access to the region for employment, residential,
cultural and recreational

These past several months, the City Team and Focus Group members

Station Area Plan. We are very excited to present the complete
